I need an appraisal of a book. Does the library do this?

Answer

Neither the Library nor the Special Collections department of the Library appraises the value of materials.

If you are considering donating materials to the Library:

Appraisals are the responsibility of the donor. For more information, refer to United States tax regulations, particularly 561 “Determining the Value of Donated Property,” 526 “Charitable Contributions,” and 8283 “Noncash Charitable Contributions Appraisal Summary” (http://www.irs.gov/formspubs/index.html).
