Should I make documentation about my data?

Answer

You should keep documentation of your data as thoroughly as possible, as this is a major part of good research data management. Readme files, metadata, and other forms of documentation will allow for other researchers to better understand your data for future use and citation. Good metadata practices also lead to increased discoverability via repository searches (and more broadly by search engines when applicable).
