What does open access mean? Why should I make my data accessible?

Answer

Open access is a set of principles that are applied to content that is added online that is free of charge to read or use.

When you share a dataset, you have the opportunity to license it in a way that allows or restricts certain uses. The Research Data Steering Group (RDSG) can help you determine which license is most appropriate for your dataset. In general, when your dataset is licensed, other people will feel more confident that they are allowed to use it, and your work will have a greater impact.
