Does the Library have a subscription to The News Journal or to delawareonline.com?

Answer

The Library does not subscribe to The News Journal via delawareonline.com because no library subscriptions are offered by the newspaper company.

You can access the online edition of The News Journal (Wilmington, Del.) in database format, which covers the period January 1, 1999 to current. This is text only--no images, advertisements, or graphics are available to view. Obituaries are available from 1999 to present. Please note that some articles in the online edition are not available in the database edition.

The Delaware Digital Newspaper Project has digitized early issues of this newspaper through Chronicling America. These are early editions of The News Journal under a different name: Every Evening, Wilmington Daily Commercial (1906-1923) and the Evening Journal (1885-1923). These issues represent only partial runs of these titles.

The Library holds earlier issues of The News Journal and its predecessor titles on microfilm. Consult our microfilm holdings list here -  https://guides.lib.udel.edu/delawarenewspapers/newsjournal

Please note: The Library does not have the "official archive" of The News Journal, meaning we do not have the original newspapers, photographs, or archive of the newspaper.
