Where can I successfully watch a DVD-R disc?

I've tried playing this on my laptop and / or DVD player, and it won't read.

Answer

DVD-Rs are, unfortunately, an inferior product to 'replicated' DVDs.  Because duplicated (DVD-R) dvds play back differently in various DVD drive and player models, and because there are many different kinds of DVD-R discs, it's impossible to say that we will have a model that will successfully play your disc.  But, we do have viewing carrels in the Film & Video Collection (lower level of Morris Library) with several different models of DVD players.  It's likely that one or several of these would play your disc.  If none of them do, it's likely that the disc may have been burned incorrectly / not finalized.  Feel free to come by with the DVD-R when the Student Multimedia Design Center is open, and staff can help you find a player that may work for you.
